Jeremy Klausner BW v3

Jeremy Klausner

Litigation Counsel

North America
New York and New Jersey

Jeremy has been a litigator for more than 30 years with firms first in New York and then New Jersey.  He started his career in 1994 under the tutelage of former federal and New York City prosecutors at Doar, Devorkin & Reich.  After leaving Doar, Devorkin & Reich, Jeremy spent several years becoming an expert in New York litigation practice and honing his skills by concentrating on insurance defense at a boutique firm, Harrington, Ocko & Monk.  There, he handled the bulk of the firm’s insurance defense depositions and managed a large caseload.

Jeremy left Harrington, Ocko & Monk and moved with his family to Santa Fe, NM, where he stopped actively practicing law to chase his dream of opening a restaurant.  He designed and built one of the earliest dine-in cinemas in the United States.  The experience was a great one, as Jeremy learned the ins and outs of every aspect of operating a business and carries that experience with him to this day.

Upon his return to the East Coast, Jeremy became licensed to practice in New Jersey, where he practiced on his own briefly and then for over 10 years at Calo Agostino, later known as Agostino & Associates, in Hackensack, NJ, where he ultimately became the managing attorney.  Jeremy became a trial lawyer, learning at the hands of Dennis Calo, a seasoned litigator and former prosecutor.  Jeremy and Dennis tried a month-long $30 million estate tax case in United States Tax Court and obtained judgment in favor of the firm’s client, a large shipping company.  Mr. Calo left the firm and ultimately became the Bergen County Prosecutor.  Jeremy was involved in all the firm’s trial work and, while there, tried numerous cases in state (New York and New Jersey) and Federal courts as well as the United States Tax Court.  Jeremy also handled some of the firm’s appellate work, briefing and arguing cases in the Second and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Today, he mainly represents individuals and small and medium-sized businesses involved in civil litigation.  In addition to his litigation practice, Jeremy is a trained mediator and serves on the New Jersey Superior Court roster of mediators.  He has also represented large companies, including Google, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and PNC Bank, in litigation matters in New Jersey.  Jeremy obtained a $10 million judgment for the Borgata in a well-publicized case involving the famous poker player, Phil Ivey.  In addition to being a mediator himself, Jeremy also represents clients in mediations and arbitrations.

Jeremy graduated from The Johns Hopkins University and Fordham University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, the Central District of California, and the Second, Third, and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals.  He has also appeared pro hac vice in several other United States District Courts.  Jeremy is well-versed in New York, New Jersey, and federal practice and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
