Andrew D. Stone is a general corporate, commercial, and securities attorney with extensive experience in transactional and business matters, as well as investment management, private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund law. He also has experience counseling on startup corporate matters. In addition, Andy served for over 20 years as in-house general counsel to a family of registered broker-dealers, hedge funds, and investment advisers in Greenwich, Connecticut, having assets under management in excess of $4 billion.

In that position, Andy was in charge of all legal aspects of the firm’s commercial and transactional, investment banking, and securities law compliance matters. Over the years, he has also been involved in private law practice in the corporate law departments of several prominent New York City law firms, including Weil, Gotshal & Manges, and Rogers & Wells, now known as Clifford Chance.

Andy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he published a securities law article in the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and received an undergraduate BA degree with Honors in Government from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where he held the University pole vault record for decades. After law school, Andy served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Nathan L. Jacobs, the then Senior Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.

He is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey and is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars. He has published articles on securities law matters in the American Bar Association’s “Business Lawyer” and “The Real Estate Finance Journal.” Andy is fluent in Spanish, having lived and worked in Spain, Mexico, and Argentina.
