Joan Hon Joins Rooney Nimmo

Rooney Nimmo is pleased to announced that J. Joan Hon has joined the firm as a partner. Joan is an experienced commercial litigator qualified in New York and Hong Kong. Her international disputes and regulatory practice has a special emphasis on financial services and securities, white-collar crime, and internal investigations. Her unique background gives her clients great value and insight.

Joan represents clients in US investigations and proceedings before regulatory agencies including the Financial Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Department of Justice (DOJ). She litigates on a wide range of commercial matters, including accounting fraud, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) conspiracy, and contract disputes. In Hong Kong, Joan has direct experience with the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). She has also represented clients before the Market Misconduct Tribunal, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, and Hong Kong’s highest court, the Court of Final Appeal.

Joan received her J.D. from the New York University School of Law and B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She speaks Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, and resides full-time in New York, where she is from. She also continues to travel to Hong Kong frequently, where she lived and worked for five years.
